WASHINGTON, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Computer Enterprises (GCE) announced today that a new version of the Core Accounting System (CAS) had been successfully released for use by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). These agencies consist of over 100,000 federal employees within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

"The latest software release further enhances the CAS software baseline to allow more features and functionality for use by our customer organizations," said Ray Muslimani, president of GCE. "Another benefit is that the baseline is now ready for adoption by other agencies within DHS."
"This new release improves the performance of the real-time integration already available within the product suite. Applications, such as Sunflower, Prism, and the Finance and Procurement Desktop (FPD), record the financial impacts of business events as diverse as contract awards and asset creation into Oracle Financials, the accounting system of record. This is done in real time and without the need to reconcile the data between the systems," commented David Winslow, director of financial systems for GCE.
CAS is built upon a Services-Oriented Architecture and employs open standards based web services as the real-time integration technology. The new features of this release offer both enterprise users and field users greater flexibility, while at the same time lowering costs by creating a more robust multiple organization implementation.
"By constantly improving the multi-org capabilities of CAS, we continue to position this state-of-the-art product suite to support the needs of DHS. Our goal has been to mitigate the risks of building a centralized departmental financial system, to lower the overall program costs, and to support DHS financial system consolidation efforts for the benefit of the department and the taxpayer," said Avie Snow, chief of financial systems for USCG.
