Q1 Labs, a global provider of security information and event management (SIEM) and log management products, today named Christopher Poulin chief security officer, a new position, and also announced the promotion of Gary Ochs to vice president of business development. Additionally, the company announced the hiring of Iven Connary as security intelligence specialist.
At Q1 Labs, Poulin will evangelize the company's QRadar™ family of solutions to strategic partners, customers, and other stakeholders, plus develop new security use cases for QRadar, among other responsibilities.
Poulin brings a balance of management experience and technical skills encompassing his 25 years in IT, information security, software development, project management, and business development gained from running his own successful security consulting practice and as the founder of FireTower, Inc. Earlier in his career he spent eight years at the U.S. Department of Defense.
As VP of business development, Ochs is primarily responsible for managing and nurturing the relationships and growing the revenue streams between Q1 Labs and its major strategic partners, including Juniper and Enterasys. He joined Q1 Labs in May 2004 as a regional sales manager in Chicago, and was promoted to director of business development in November 2006 to oversee the company’s key partner relationships.
Prior to Q1 Labs, Ochs worked at ArcSight and Symantec. Earlier in his 20-year career he held various sales positions at Kana Communications, New Oak/Bay Networks, Raptor Systems, and Wellfleet/Bay Networks.

At Q1 Labs, Connary will be focused on competitive intelligence. He joins the company from IBM where he was chief software architect for Tivoli Security Operations Manager. Previously, Connary was a co-founder and CTO of SIEM vendor GuardedNet, which was subsequently acquired by Micromuse/IBM. Earlier, he was a security architect at the Georgia Technology Authority.
