Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Three Tips to Improve Blog Titles and Increase Traffic
For small and midsize companies just getting into blogging and social media

Here are 3 Tips to Improve Blog Titles and Increase Traffic for small and midsize companies just getting into blogging and social media. Writing good blog titles is vital to building interest in your blog, getting it ranked by search engines, and getting people to repeatedly come back to your site for more great info.

To learn more about the power of blogging for small business, check out this article and video about a Fencing Supply company that started a blog called "The Fence Post". This small business in an industry you wouldn't think had anyone reading blogs about it, was able to increase sales directly from information they gave their customers on their blog. Great story for anyone not convinced that any type of company in any setting can benefit from engaging your customers.

If you are already convinced of the power of blogging and want to find out how to improve and maximize traffic, read on.

Tip #1 Use a Number in your Article Title

This seems funny to some people, but this really does increase traffic. People are known to be more interested in stories that say "3 Tips to Improve Blog Titles and Increase Traffic" than they would "Blog Article Tips". So, if you are creating any type of article that lists a few things, or provides tips, etc. a great way to increase traffic is to use a number at the beginning of the post.

Now that you know this, you'll notice how many blog posts do this.

Tip #2 Convey Benefits in the Title

The first tip wasn't all that obvious, but this one is. If you want someone to read what you write, tell them why. You might also phrase this: "Don't just tell people what your article is about, tell them why they should take the time to read it."

Example:  From "Blog Article Tips" to "3 Tips to Improve Blog Titles and Increase Traffic"

Tip #3 Double Up on the Benefits

One of the most famous marketing titles of all time is "How to Win Friends and Influence People" a book and marketing letter of the same name by Dale Carnegie. One of the most powerful elements at work here is that the title implies that if you use the tips to achieve the first benefit, you'll get the second as well.

It's very powerful for a reader to see two benefits in a title and increases the chance the reader will read past your title only.

Summary

The more benefits you convey to your readers in your post titles, the more readers your posts will have. Using the above simple strategies will improve your blog post titles and increase traffic to your website.

Next time we'll see how to get the people that read your well titled post to actually click the DIGG button and share your story with the world.
