Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

CHLOR*RID Expands Operations – Appoints New Regional Manager
CHLOR*RID - World’s Leading Source of Soluble Salt Testing and Soluble Salt Removal

By: Karen Thomas
Nov. 18, 2009 04:00 PM

CHLOR*RID International, Inc. www.chlor-rid.com, the world’s leading source of products for soluble salt testing and soluble salt removal, announced today that it is expanding its operations and is hiring Regis Doucette as Regional Manager responsible for Northeast U.S. sales.  In addition to supporting CHLOR*RID distributors and their sales efforts, Doucette will conduct field tech support and sales training.  He will also provide continuing education courses on corrosion prevention and will speak at industry trade shows, in addition to helping owners, facility managers, designers, and specification writers learn about soluble salts and how to remove these non-visible contaminants correctly and economically.

Regis Doucette holds an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) from Hofstra University in NY.  With his financial background, he learned the importance of assuring proper costing of all resources over project life cycles -- very important for the coatings industry.  Doucette has represented various industrial coatings manufacturers and presented seminars and televised demonstrations on the field.  Previously, he was CFO of NYNEX Computer Services, consultant for NYLCare HMO, and worked in various capacities for Citibank, and Texaco and has worked in the construction industry.

Speaking at NACE Winter Symposium

Doucette will be representing CHLOR*RID at industry speaking engagements, including NACE International Winter 2009 Corrosion Symposium on November 17, 2009, where he will conduct a panel on corrosion issues in air, sea, land, and transportation, entitled, “Proper Removal of Soluble Salts after Detecting their Presence and Preventing Premature Coatings Failures,” focusing on proper surface preparation as a key to saving money by preventing premature coating failures.

As a pioneer in photo luminescent and a major proponent in the passive and intumescent coatings, Doucette has worked on many important projects.  Working in the field applying intumescent coatings has given Doucette an important perspective on the industry.  He secured successful coatings projects with Boston Big Dig and AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) because of his knowledge in the coatings industry and attention to detail.

“Our firm was very fortunate to hire someone with Regis’s education, knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. We consider him to be a valuable asset to both our clientele and the company,” said Jim Johnson, Marketing Director, CHLOR*RID.

“In the corrosion industry, the issue of soluble salts in conjunction with the current state-of-the-art coatings is an important topic.  CHLOR*RID addresses this issue by providing the safest, most economical solution for the removal of soluble salts from substrates,” said Regis Doucette, Regional Manager, CHLOR*RID.  “My mission as Regional Manager is to educate specifiers and project managers that the removal of soluble salts up front is common sense.  Do the job right the first time and you will avoid callbacks and failures.  The environment, both economically and ecologically, clearly requires the use of this detection and remediation system to maintain our safety and physical infrastructure.”
