MIDEM is launching the first edition of MidemNet Academy, a professional
digital training program open to all MIDEM participants during the
market, which runs 24-27 January 2010 in Cannes. Focusing on
interactivity and offering a very wide range of themes, the training
sessions will provide concrete responses to music industry professionals
looking to learn more about digital tools.
The first session, “Digital marketing for under €1,000” will deliver the
recipe for an economical, efficient and profitable marketing strategy. A
session dedicated to Twitter will present the possibilities for artists
to use the social networking tool for marketing and commercial ends. One
course will outline a raft of innovative services to help extend the
live experience and bring fans together beyond the concert performance,
and another will be dedicated to Smartphone applications.
The MidemNet Academy is aimed at artists as well as producers, managers,
marketing professionals, those in the live arena or the digital space,
who want to expand their digital reach: “The aim is to offer practical
and immediately applicable solutions. MidemNet Academy will allow us to
offer different formats than the regular panels to respond to the needs
of industry professionals in terms of acquiring new digital skills,”
