IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/25/09 -- EON Reality, the world's leading interactive 3D
software provider, is proud to announce the Grand Opening Ceremony of the
virtual reality center of Clermont-Ferrand took place on November 10th.
Clermont-Ferrand is the eighteenth city to enter the Interactive Digital
Center (IDC) network that is supported by EON Reality and the IDC
Consortium.
The Grand Opening Ceremony was attended by Rene Souchon, President of the
Auvergne State, Serge Godard, Mayor and President of Clermont Community,
Charles Moreau, General Secretary for Regional Affairs representing the
prefect, Jacques Fournet, Chairman of the Economic Development Committee
and Pierre-Julien Barraud, European Business Development Director for EON
Reality. Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality, although not physically
present, participated via a virtual video message.
"Fun" was one key element of the Ceremony: discovery of a business jet
cabin reconstructed in 3D, 360° visit of the local "Place de Jaude,"
bare-hands interaction system, 3D TV that does not require wearing any
special glasses to name a few. But "fun" is not the only mission of the
Center. "Virtual is nothing fictitious, it creates reality before it
exists," said Serge Godard. "Clermont's ambition is to democratize access
to these technologies so that local companies can innovate more easily,"
Serge Godard highlighted the unifying aspect of this project. Clermont
Community and the Auvergne State have each contributed 300,000 Euros, the
European funds 600,000 Euros and EON Reality 2.6 million Euros.
Pierre-Julien Barraud stated that the membership of Clermont to the
Interactive Digital Center (IDC) network is a real asset to the regional
capital: "Clermont-Ferrand is our main base in Europe. International
projects will start from here. The Center has already been visited by
delegations from the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan and Brazil."
