PLANO, Texas, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Perot Systems Corporation today announced that its government services subsidiary was awarded a contract from the Department of Education for the operation, maintenance and enhancement of the Education Data Exchange Network (EDEN). The contract includes a three-month base period and four one-year option periods. The total potential value of the contract as awarded is approximately $20 million. The contract also provides for additional enhancements to EDEN as required and ordered by the Department of Education.
As part of the contract, Perot Systems will provide support for ongoing data definition, data acquisition, data usage, data quality, knowledge management, data infrastructure, IT platform infrastructure, and capability building.
"This is a significant win for Perot Systems," said Greg Bedner, president of Perot Systems Government Services. "Our team is committed to delivering the highest quality of service to the Department of Education to assist them in their important task of providing first-class education for our children."
The EDEN was developed, implemented, and began operation under the Performance Based Data Management Initiative (PBDMI). The goal of the PBDMI is to develop standards, guidelines, and policies that will transform the way Education manages its data collection and information management business. This collaborative effort with state and local education agency partners is intended to increase their ability to obtain, use, share, and report quality education information about program successes and education outcomes.
Perot Systems delivers reliable program, mission, and infrastructure support to numerous United States government customers, including the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, a number of civilian agencies, and the intelligence community.
