I was wondering what advances 2010 will bring us all to help stay connected in the Wireless Mobile year ahead?

Recently I traveled to California for an iPhone Conference and heard of something that I had never come across - 3G Congestion. I was told that this is usually common place in shopping malls on a Saturday, where folks are emailing, texting and browsing etc from their 3G enabled handsets/Smartphones. Since then I have experienced 3G Congestion in central London, where the percentage of Smartphone/iPhone users is extremely high... lets hope that our cellular providers can do something to help. By the way I have heard that iPhone Users tend to use 10% more 3G bandwidth than other 3G users. It is my belief that this is due to the richness of the user experience and wealth of applications etc.

Could one solution be Femtocells? Femtocells are being developed by some providers to mainly plug the gaps in weak mobile phone signals, for instance at home, and gaps in wi-fi coverage where we suffer dead spots in communication. The Femtocell is connected to a Broadband connection and then the box creates a low power local mobile phone signal that allows connection with a 3G mobile phone.  I have read that one Femtocell can register up to 32 different numbers or devices and it can handle four simultaneous phone calls. Will this be a way to aid local problems?

On a different subjects, whilst looking at Femtocells I also have started to hear about MiFi, which is basically a device that uses a cellular modem, such as in a 3G USB Dongle etc and creates a personal WiFi area. Much better for users of multiple devices that need internet access. Just think, no need to install drivers etc on separate devices and MiFi helps for those devices that do not have USB connections such as the iPod Touch devices.
