The Document Object Model (aka the DOM) has been a topic of much discussion in the past few years as developers started writing AJAX-y programs, which work with Javascript to (in theory) enhance user experiences and add desktop-based functionality and performance. Now, as the world turns its eyes toward Cloud Computing, a focus on the DOM is more important than ever, given the security concerns that permeate every aspect of Cloud development and deployment.

Mike Samuel, currently a member of Google's applied security team, will ride in to the rescue on this topic at Cloud Expo. His session, entitled "DOM Virtualization," will be presented on Monday, April 19 at 5:30pm at the javits Center event in New York.
"The same-origin security model which governs how code running in-browser interacts with sensitive data is breaking down," he writes in describing an overview of his presentation. "This session will show how various alternative security models virtualize the DOM and network to allow web applications to embed third-party code safely and efficiently, while smoothing over platform idiosyncracies."
Mike is also a member of the secure EcmaScript working group, which is trying to make widely used programming languages better for robust/secure computing. Prior to that he worked on application development including writing large parts of Google Calendar.
