Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Swinton Bikes Urges Bikers to Consider Helmet and Leather Insurance

By: Marketwire .
May. 23, 2010 07:00 PM

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 05/23/10 -- Swinton Bikes is urging consumers to consider adding helmet and leather insurance to their existing bike insurance policies after research revealed that the average cost of extra equipment is GBP 750.

Despite the tough economic climate, Swinton Bikes, one of the UK's leading bike insurance brokers, has seen an increase in value of the average spend on helmets and leathers, from GBP 500 to GBP 750, over the last two years. The research carried out by Swinton has also revealed that some sports bike riders are spending over GBP 1,000 on top of the range gear.

With recent statistics showing that bikers still account for a large proportion of road traffic accidents, Swinton Bikes has strongly advised all riders to ensure that they have suitable motorcycle clothing with impact and abrasion protection.

Anthony Aronin, Head of Swinton Bikes, said: "Even the safest of riders is likely to have a few scrapes and fall off their motorbike at some point in their biking career so it's vital for them to have good quality protective clothing."

Anthony added: "With the average helmet costing GBP 200, a jacket costing GBP 150, trousers costing GBP 100 and boots and gloves costing GBP 50, it's important for bikers to consider buying a helmet and leathers add on for their standard motorcycle insurance policy.

"With the effects of the recession still being felt, adding elements onto your standard bike insurance policy may feel like an unnecessary cost now but could save you money in the long run."

It is imperative that bikers realise purchasing specialist protective clothing for riding is hugely important. However, as the gear doesn't come cheap, it's better to insure what you have rather than face spending that amount again in the future.

Swinton Bikes' Helmet and Leathers policy covers your gear up to the value of GBP 1,500 for repair or replacement. (Policy terms and conditions apply).
