We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
BEIJING, May 26 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Frbiz.com, one of China's leading B2B
search platforms, analyzes 2010 household appliance industry development.
In January and February 2010, household appliances industry-wide sales
income reached 171.1 billion yuan, up 33% year-on-year. The basic trend is of
rapidly rising growth, with net profit increases of 65%. In the household
electrical appliance industry (including small appliances) from January to
February 2010, sales income was 111 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of
32%, and pre-tax profit was 4.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 65%.
From January to February, the entire industry's gross margin was 13.27%, and
net profit margin sales reached 3.32%. Raw materials prices have been rising
since 2009, which has impacted industry profitability.
Overall, in the first quarter of 2010, business sales increased
year-on-year very quickly. Air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines,
television sets and other large appliances performed especially well. Air
conditioner and refrigerator sales are still high for the off-season, while
washing machines and TV sets are in their peak sales season, with higher sales
volume. Although product sales increases are due to the Lunar New Year,
year-on-year growth is faster than in the previous year.
Chinese sales are expected to maintain high growth rates until mid-2010,
in the second half year may fall. Since the second half year of 2009, sales of
home appliances in the countryside have been higher, but in the second half of
2010, growth of sales of home appliances in the countryside may fall to normal
levels.
In terms of exports, recently China's home appliance
(http://www.frbiz.com/catalog-17000000-1/home_appliances.html ) exports have
increased, and manufacturing enterprises have seen an increase in orders. In
January and February of 2010, in the home equipment industry, exports were
26.5 billion U.S. dollars and 2.4 billion U.S. dollars respectively,
representing year-on-year increases of 14% and 29%, a return to 2008 levels.
In the television set industry in January and February exports were 0.7
billion dollars and 0.71 U.S. dollars respectively, up 46% and 48%
year-on-year; absolute growth volume has declined, but the market is still
maintaining rapid growth.
In short, Himfr believes that in the second half of this year, there
exists some uncertainty, as year-on year-growth may be declining, but this
year the home appliance market will maintain a rising trend. Increase in
international market demand will drive the industry's recovery.
