OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/26/10 -- The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General invites the public to discover the official residence of the governor general at the Citadelle of Quebec.

Come and explore this outstanding residence, located in the heart of the Citadelle, with its breathtaking views and striking collection of Canadian art, objects and furnishings, both historic and contemporary. Visit the State rooms where Canadians are honoured and dignitaries are welcomed.

Guided tour hours:

May and June: Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From June 24 to August 29: daily, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visit the Cap-aux-Diamants Redoubt

The picturesque setting of the Citadelle is home to the redoubt, one of Canada's oldest military buildings. The exhibits in its three magnificent vaults recall the history of the redoubt and the origins of the oldest public office in Canada, that of the governor general.

Don't miss Le Grand Livre de Champlain, set in a metal binding with pages two metres high, that takes us back to Samuel de Champlain's voyages to New France.
