Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Transform Cosmetic Surgery Finds Women Make High Heels More Comfortable With Cosmetic Surgery
Transform has more patients asking for dermal filler injections in their feet to prevent pain caused by high heels. The cosmetic surgery group has experienced a 49% increase in foot filler patients from 2009 to 2010.

MANCHESTER, England, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- After women have been confined to flats through the months of cold weather, they're more eager than ever to toss their flats in the closet and don fashionable heels, regardless of the pain and discomfort they cause. In fact, 40% of the UK's females are passing up comfort for great style. Now, the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group is offering a new procedure that can increase a woman's stiletto stamina and increase the comfort level of those killer heels.

"With Cheryl Cole and other fashion divas wearing six-inch heels to accent their days, other British females are following suit. Women just don't want to give them up or the feeling of being taller, slimmer and more confident," explained Transform's Non-Surgical Group Manager Gwen Davies, who is very familiar with UK women's obsession with high heels.

This procedure, known as a dermal filler injection, isn't as rare as many would believe. In the past year, Transform has had a 49% increase in the number of female patients requesting the procedure and eager to ease the pain in their heels. This treatment requires dermal fillers to be injected into the balls of the feet to increase comfort when running, walking or dealing with inadequately supportive footwear.

"Dermal fillers have been used by cosmetic surgeons for years to increase the prominence of certain facial features. Now, however, we're seeing a large number of women requesting the treatment for their feet, so they are able to walk comfortably in heels," said Davies.

While fashion trends are highly unlikely to take heed of any warnings, health experts strongly suggest women keep their heels shorter than one inch if they'll be wearing their shoes for long periods. If it's only for a short time, the experts do say inch and a half heels are fine.
