Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Costa Rican Stem Cell Treatment Facility to Close
Founder Dr. Neil Riordan to Focus Efforts on Stem Cell Institute in Panama and the Launch of Stem-Kine, a Nutritional Supplement Sold by U.S.-Based Aidan Products

PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 06/04/10 -- After five years of performing stem cell research and treatments in Costa Rica, Dr. Riordan announced that the Institute for Cellular Medicine's Costa Rican facility will be closing. All operations will be transitioned to the Company's existing facilities in Panama.

"We have treated over 400 patients under strict medical guidelines and in partnership with the top medical practitioners and hospitals in Costa Rica," says Dr. Neil Riordan, founder of the clinic. "Despite our demonstrated success and due care in bringing these promising medical treatments to reality in full compliance with the laws and regulations of Costa Rica, it has been obvious that we are not welcome by the health ministry. We therefore have no choice but to close our operations and relocate to our existing facilities in Panama. We thank all of our patients who have supported and believed in us for all these years and we invite them to contact the Stem Cell Institute in Panama for continued follow up and care."

Dr. Riordan has recently expanded his research and development facilities in Panama at the prestigious City of Knowledge, an international technology park. Additionally, in joint cooperation with the Punta Pacifica Hospital, the Stem Cell Institute now has the capacity to treat over 200 patients per month.

In addition to his offshore treatment and research operations, Dr. Riordan has recently launched Stem-Kine, a nutritional supplement that has been clinically demonstrated to increase circulating stem cells.

Dr. Riordan concludes, "Since 2005, we have demonstrated success in using adult stem cells to treat serious disorders and we are gaining increasing recognition in the scientific community. Now, with the introduction of Stem-Kine, we have a natural product that is commercially available to increase the levels of stem cells in the bloodstream, cells that play a key role in health and regenerative capabilities. Although we are saddened by the closure of our facility in Costa Rica, we are proud of our accomplishments and the advancements we continue to make in the field of adult stem cells."

About Stem Cell Institute

The Stem Cell Institute offers adult stem cell therapy for patients suffering from a variety of degenerative conditions. Results from its therapies have been documented in several leading publications and media articles including a recent peer-reviewed journal article demonstrating profound recovery of a patient with heart failure.
