Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. Kyocera Mita America Expands Award Winning Lineup of ECOSYS Black & White Desktop Printers

By: Business Wire
Jun. 8, 2010 08:15 AM

Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced the availability of the FS-1370DN ECOSYS® Black and White compact desktop printer. Ideally suited for today’s small to medium-sized business and shared workgroup environments, the FS-1370DN is a 37 page-per-minute solution, offering flexible paper capacity, standard paper-saving duplex and superior image performance, all in a compact, economical and ecological desktop footprint.

The FS-1370DN comes with a standard paper capacity of 300 sheets and a robust maximum monthly duty cycle 50,000 pages per month, providing optimized office performance and productivity. Kyocera’s FS-1370DN printer supports fast productivity on a wide variety of media, with image quality up to 1,200 dpi. Engineered using Kyocera’s ECOSYS technology, the FS-1370DN offers a broad range of business environments the solid foundation necessary to meet their ecological initiatives and every day print requirements by providing long-life consumables that result in a low total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduced landfill waste.

“Businesses are focused on the bottom line now more than ever, and they’re looking for office solutions that are reliable, efficient and have the lowest TCO," said Richard Heckelmann, printer product and solutions manager, Kyocera Mita America. "Kyocera developed the ECOSYS product line to provide strong output speeds, superior print quality and long-life consumables that minimally impact the environment and the bottom line. We’re confident the FS-1370DN will meet our customers’ demands for performance and efficiency, and will deliver one of the lowest costs per print.”

The Kyocera FS-1370DN includes standard Network Connectivity which includes support for SSL, IPsec, IPv4 and IPv6 (Internet Protocol versions 4 and 6) to help provide the utmost document security and user protection, and integrates seamlessly with virtually any network environment. A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Interface is also available for easy, direct connection to an end user’s workstation.

A front mounted USB Host printing slot provides mobile users access to files they want to print directly on the printer from a USB memory card. Users can navigate through three folder levels, as well as selecting the number of prints directly from the LCD operation panel. Supported file formats include PDF, XPS, TIFF and JPG.

The FS-1370DN offers advanced capabilities for improved efficiency and increased productivity such as standard memory of 128MB that is upgradeable to 1152MB. In addition, the FS-1370DN can accommodate two additional feeders for a maximum paper capacity of 800 sheets. And for businesses looking to integrate their office equipment with existing document network and device solutions to greatly reduce overhead costs, protect sensitive and confidential documents, end users can include Kyocera’s value-added printer solutions like the KX Driver, KMnet Viewer, Status Monitor and PRESCRIBE.

PRESCRIBE is Kyocera’s unique printer control language which allows customization to a variety of user environments including host printing, forms, and specialized output requirements without requiring complex and lengthy integration engagements.

Pricing and Availability

The FS-1370DN is now available through authorized Kyocera dealers at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $599. To find the nearest dealer, please visit Kyocera Mita America’s dealer locator at: www.kyoceramita.com/us.
