Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

QuickMedical(R) Announces Exclusive Distributorship of The Height Reader(TM) Digital Stadiometer With Bluetooth(R) Technology

ISSAQUAH, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/11/10 -- QuickMedical® announced today their exclusive distributorship agreement for the new Height Reader™ Digital Stadiometer with Bluetooth® Technology.

With help from Accurate Technology, Inc., the Height Reader™ Digital Stadiometer was designed and developed by Donald Forgue, MD at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City Missouri. Currently over 40 of the digital stadiometers are in use at the hospital and outpatient clinics.

"The Height Reader™ enables a health care provider to easily monitor and record patient progress and outcomes through the use of Bluetooth® Technology," said Dr. Forgue. "The device makes it possible to relay patient height directly to a computer within the hospital system; this saves time, money, and reduces errors. In specialties such as Endocrinology and Renal medicine, we have found the Height Reader™ to be a useful tool in the management and care of patients," concluded Dr. Forgue.

Made in the United States with production scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2010, the Height Reader™ Digital Stadiometer offers Bluetooth® wireless communication that will directly report measurements to a computer that is interfaced to an Office or Hospital information system. A new Wi-Fi model of the device is planned for release in the near future.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for QuickMedical® to bring the latest in digital stadiometry to the health care professional," said Scott Hanna, CEO at QuickMedical®. "Hospitals and clinics are looking for technology that will help them to reduce paper work, time, cost, and mistakes. The Height Reader™ Digital Stadiometer will help to fill that need."

You're invited to visit with Dr. Forgue who will be demonstrating the new Height Reader™ at the QuickMedical® Open House and Benefit for Seattle Children's Hospital in Issaquah, WA on June 16 and 17, 2010.
