Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

D2 Technologies Showcases its mCUE IP Communications Interface over WiMAX on HTC’s EVO 4G Android Smartphone

By: Business Wire
Jun. 14, 2010 08:03 AM

D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced that it is holding private demonstrations of its mCUE™ converged communications client for mobile devices and handsets on the HTC EVO™ 4G smartphone on Thursday, June 17 at the WiMAX Forum® Global Congress in Amsterdam. D2’s mCUE on the HTC EVO, the first 4G phone to be introduced in the United States, was configured and installed in less than a week – clearly illustrating how OEMs and ODMs can more rapidly develop Android™-based devices by choosing to incorporate the converged presence-based communications user interface (CUI). mCUE, with its industry leading vPort embedded VoIP and video engine, offers OEMs a solution for WiMAX-compatible Android OS mobile devices that includes premium multi-service unified communications capabilities and interoperability with IMS-based service provider networks.

WiMAX Forum Global Congress attendees interested in arranging a demonstration of mCUE on the HTC EVO 4G should contact D2 directly at marketing@d2tech.com.

“The first day of U.S. sales for the HTC EVO 4G resulted in the largest quantity of a single phone ever sold by Sprint, and shows the heavy consumer demand for Android-based WiMAX mobile devices,” noted Doug Makishima, chief operating officer at D2 Technologies. “By showcasing mCUE on the HTC EVO 4G, we can demonstrate to potential customers how it is faster, easier and more affordable for OEMs and service providers to introduce mobile VoIP over WiMAX and other next generation IP communications devices to market by partnering with D2.”

D2’s mCUE solution, an innovative, patented VoIP and IP communications client, provides all of the components necessary for manufacturers to quickly field multi-mode mobile devices for enterprise, carrier and consumer use. This includes dual-mode Wi-Fi – and now WiMAX – enabled smartphones, tablets and MIDs. mCUE provides multi-service and multi-modal communications capabilities such as VoIP, IM chat, presence and video calls over WiMAX, as well as multi-radio, multi-network seamless voice call handover.
