Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Jul. 27, 2010 09:08 AM

HealthTeacher announced today that Ted Dacko, former CEO of HealthMedia, Inc, has joined the company's board of directors.

"Ted's success in developing and deploying innovative online solutions that drive measurable health behavior change will be meaningful as we continue to evolve HealthTeacher's youth health education resources for schools and communities," said Scott McQuigg, CEO of HealthTeacher. "Ted is a proven entrepreneur, executive and leader with a unique nexus of experience in health promotion, technology, and learning - which will be invaluable to HealthTeacher.”

Ted's leadership is credited with growing HealthMedia into one of the country's leading health promotion and disease management companies. Ted has more than 36 years of experience in executive-level management and leadership, including Sales, Marketing, M&A and the Chief Executive Office, principally in the area of software applications and solutions.

"I am honored to be serving HealthTeacher. I believe that HealthTeacher is one of the most important health care companies in the world today because teaching our youth valuable health behaviors is the "ultimate" in the field of prevention. Anybody who knows anything about, and firmly believes in, health promotion and disease prevention and safety understands that our youth is where the field should focus. I am passionate about stemming the health care crisis at its origin."

Prior to HealthMedia, Ted served as President and CEO at Centromine, an Internet-based behavioral health firm, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Orion Micro Systems, which was based in Waterbury, Connecticut. Previously he held a full range of positions in larger organizations including Hyperion Software, Comshare and General Electric.

Ted serves on several advisory committees, including the Senior Leadership Development Council of Health Promotion Advocates, Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) Think Tank, the Institute for Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) and Disease Management Association of America (DMAA). Ted holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, and a Master's Degree in Mathematics from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Ted joins HealthTeacher's six person board of directors which includes Koleman Karleski, Managing Director of Chrysalis Ventures; Rob Smith, Partner, Petra Capital Partners; Gary Facente, former Chairman and CEO of Delta Education, a leading provider of science and reading curriculum; Scott McQuigg, HealthTeacher's CEO; Jon Vice, former CEO of Children's Hospital and Health System, Milwaukee, WI and current professor at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Health Services Administration.
