Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud.
We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
Nvidia says it's going to appeal a decision by the International Trade Commission (ITC) Monday finding that it infringes three Rambus patents and banning the import of certain products containing Nvidia's graphics chips and the sale of product already in the country starting in 60 days.
Apparently Nvidia can still sell the widgets under a licensing arrangement Rambus reached with the European Commission last year that sets a royalty rate.
Rambus still claims Nvidia owes it eight years worth of damages and is suing to get that money. The ITC can't award monetary damages.
Nvidia is also challenging the Rambus patents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that cover the controllers that connect memory to Nvidia's GeForce, Quadro, nForce, Tesla and Tegra graphics chips.
HP was also implicated by the ITC's order along with Asus, MSI, EVGA, Diablo Tek, Biostar Microtek and BFG Technologies.
To add to its troubles, Nvidia Wednesday cut its second-quarter revenue estimates, blaming weak consumer spending in Europe and China and the increased cost of memory.
