Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

LINE-X® Protective Coatings Protects Bridges Across Nation
Protective Coatings Leader Provides Solution to Deterioration of Bridge Infrastructures

By: PR Newswire
Aug. 30, 2010 08:01 AM

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- LINE-X® Protective Coatings, the nation's leading developer and provider of high performance protective coatings, is proud to announce the company now offers cost effective solutions for the deterioration of bridge infrastructures nationwide.

LINE-X, specializing in multi-purpose polyurea and polyurethane protective coatings, developed LINE-X XS-350, a two-component, 100% high performance aromatic polyurea spray elastomer system with zero VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), ideal for repairing bridge infrastructure long-term. This product has been tested and endorsed by the state of Maine and in July 2009, it was effectively applied to the bridge piers at exit 127 in Waterville.

"Most bridges in these areas are over fifty years old and are starting to crumble," said Kevin Heronimus, CEO of LINE-X Protective Coatings. "LINE-X XS-350 has been protecting the Maine bridge piers for a year solving issues that, if not addressed, would have led to replacement costs tenfold the cost of applying XS-350. I'm proud that our company offers solutions that have the potential to save lives while also saving money."

In addition to the bridge in Waterville, LINE-X has just completed a project for the City of Dana Point, California to protect a pedestrian bridge. Constructed one year ago, the bridge is situated 22-feet above the Pacific Coast Highway stretching across multiple lanes of traffic. The original surface of the bridge was unsuitable for the traffic demands placed on it.

LINE-X coated the bridge using ASPART-X(TM) U/V Protective Coatings, a new line of versatile coatings designed to provide U/V protection to prevent yellowing and fading, as well as increased abrasion and chemical resistance. ASPART-X is a zero volatile organic compound (VOC), 100% solid, aliphatic, pure polyurea coating specifically engineered as a topcoat for polyurea and polyurethane systems. The result is a very durable, easy-to-clean finish that can be configured in a variety of non-skid finishes.

"As an industry leader, we listen to our customers and design our products on their needs," continued Heronimus. "ASPART-X is a great solution to the city's problem. The bridge now has a skid-resistant surface that is resilient to heavy traffic."

LINE-X continues to lead the marketplace with innovative products that provide unique solutions to our customers. In fact, a recent Frost & Sullivan report shows that LINE-X's strict quality control has positioned the company as a leading supplier to many industries that utilize spray-on applications. The centralized franchise system gives LINE-X control over safety standards, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, training and other industry standards.
