According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among women in the United States, ovarian cancer is the eighth most common cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer death, after lung and bronchus cancer, breast, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers. More often, it affects women ages 65 or older, but realistically, it can affect women of all ages. When initial tests indicate the possibility of ovarian cancer, referral to a specialist, a gyn oncologist, is appropriate care," he adds.
