Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Spero Pain Relief Therapy LLC Announces Opening of Pain Relief Clinic in St. George, Utah
First of Four Clinics Planned for Utah Utilizing New Calmare(R) Pain Therapy Treatment Device

By: Marketwire .
Sep. 2, 2010 09:08 PM

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 09/02/10 -- Spero Pain Relief Therapy, Inc. announced today the opening of the company's first of four planned pain relief clinics in Utah. The clinic is located at 348 East 600 South St. George, Utah and can be contacted by phone at (435) 656-1916. Spero has plans to expand its clinic network to include locations in Provo, Salt Lake City and Ogden using the innovative Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment pain management system from Competitive Technologies, Inc. (CTT).

Dr. Robert Chalmers, M.D., Director and Founder of Spero Pain Relief Therapy, said, "After treating a number of my patients suffering from chronic pain with CTT's Calmare Pain Therapy medical device with extraordinary results, I realized that introducing this non-narcotic alternative therapy for chronic pain as soon as possible to long suffering patients is necessary. I am convinced that the medical community at large will know about the efficacy and benefits of this system, but starting with this first clinic, Utahans need not wait for pain relief."

Dr. Chalmers continued, "At the recent American Society of Clinical Oncology, or ASCO, a clinical study was presented on the Calmare system's effectiveness with chronic pain from chemotherapy treatments. The results, again, were very positive. It is a rare opportunity for a physician such as myself to be involved in the introduction of a new medical technology for the treatment of such a challenging medical condition as chronic and intractable pain."

Ms. Kris Hafer, a recent patient of Dr. Chalmers', said, "I have lived with constant pain for the past thirty-two years with a pain score of 7-8 despite three back surgeries and trying epidurals and painkillers that made me nauseous and groggy. I really felt I had exhausted all my options. But after completing the ten 45-minute sessions with this new technology, I have been pain free for more than sixty days and I have discontinued all my pain medications." She added, "I really do not know if I can emphasize enough how thrilling it is to now have a pain score of zero. I have not had zero pain for more than three decades. The change in my daily life has been nothing short of remarkable."

The Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment medical device technology is a non-invasive medical device for the treatment of high-intensity oncologic and neuropathic pain, including pain resistant to traditional painkillers which often have bad side effects and possible addiction such as morphine and other drugs. Calmare® directs a low electrical current to the patient's central nervous system through electrodes placed topically on the patient's skin on either side of the pain area. Utilizing proprietary electrical impulse algorithms programmed in the Calmare® system, the technology targets the body's C-fiber pathway (which transmits slower and chronic pain signals) versus the acute pain pathway. Instead of "blocking" the pain message which is what traditional TENS therapy offers, these electrical signals "re-program" the brain to recognize the pain signal as "normal" and achieve long lasting pain relief. The patented Calmare® technology offers clinicians with a non-invasive and non-narcotic therapy for the relief of chronic pain.
