We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
Latisys,
a leading national provider of colocation, managed hosting, managed
services and disaster recovery solutions, today announced a significant
expansion to its data center presence in Orange County with the
development of a new, 93,000 square foot Tier 3 data center facility in
the heart of the Orange County business market. The expansion positions
Latisys as the largest data center operator in Orange County.
Located within several hundred feet of Latisys’ current Irvine,
California OC1 data center, the new Orange County 2 (OC2) high-density
(HD) facility comes with an initial 10 Megawatts of utility power, and
is being designed to support an average power density up to 250 watts
per square foot. More than doubling the HD, raised floor square footage
available to Latisys customers, the new Orange County facility will
deliver colocation, cloud services and managed
hosting services, and feature access to a wide variety of existing
redundant fiber networks. The data center will accommodate customer
deployments ranging in size from single cabinets and colocation cages to
large private suites. Customer installations will be ready for
deployment in Q2 2011.
“Today’s expansion announcement reflects a sizable investment and
commitment to Orange
County data center enterprise customers, and builds further upon our
belief that Latisys’ is the premier destination for customers that need
or want to grow, yet can’t scale their own infrastructure in the Orange
County market today,” said Peter Stevenson, CEO, Latisys.
Latisys continues to see consistent and growing demand among
industry-leading organizations – ranging from Fortune 500 firms and
mid-sized organizations to government agencies – for its managed
hosting, high
density colocation and disaster recovery services. Customers are
also turning to Latisys for IT
infrastructure outsourcing (ITO) services that adapt to evolving
enterprise customer requirements, whether they want to off-site,
off-load, outsource or optimize their IT infrastructure.
Tom Panarisi, Regional Vice President, Latisys, adds, “The new facility,
in tandem with a growing national footprint, reinforces Latisys’
flexible and agile approach to delivering IT infrastructure outsourcing
services, and enhances our ability to serve existing and prospective
customers in Orange County.”
