HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Taking a page from the playbook of professional sports referees, doctors can now go to the videotape to get a glimpse of workers in action before making their determination in return to work cases.

Specialty Risk Services (SRS), one of the leading property-casualty third party administrators for workers' compensation and general liability claims, has teamed with Return to Work America LLC to offer clients an Internet-based video job analysis system that helps expedite returning injured workers to their job or modified duty by allowing doctors to see the exact physical functions, movements and requirements of a certain occupation.

Targeted to help clients control their workers' compensation lost time exposure, the job analysis system provides an Internet-based video library of job functions that can be customized by the client to reflect specific jobs. Doctors review the tapes by logging onto the Web site using their unique ID and password.

Recent studies indicate the number of unscheduled absences currently is at a five-year high. Employers not only face the costs associated with medical treatment, but the cost of lost wage replacement and lost productivity -- which can amount to more than four times more than the cost of medical payments.*

An integral part of the Video Job Analysis System is the ability of the treating doctor to complete an assessment report online, providing immediate feedback to the employer and their workers' compensation claim administrator. As the report is generated, the employer and carrier are notified via e-mail and can log into the site using a secure password to view the report.
