LONDON, December 6 /PRNewswire/ -- LogicaCMG announced today that it has successfully deployed a major mobile messaging and mobile payments upgrade with Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, the premier mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia, serving over 5 million prepaid subscribers.
The contract valued at over MYR60 million (approximately over USD16 million) includes the deployment of LogicaCMG's Next Generation Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC), Intelligent Network Platform, Pre-Delivery Service Agent and Business Tools solutions. The expansion will also include a prepaid upgrade for 3G which is currently nearing completion of deployment.
The upgrade to the Next Generation SMSC will enable Celcom to increase its messaging capacity more than 1,000 messages per second in order to accommodate peaks in Short Messaging Service (SMS) traffic, as well as support future growth. The SMSC provides an ideal solution for Celcom as it offers maximum return from existing investments and supports its leader position in premium SMS services. Dedicated messaging capacity will be reserved for peak scenarios, leaving normal messaging traffic unaffected, to safeguard and maximise opportunities for growth without impacting on quality of service to existing subscribers.
LogicaCMG will also integrate its Business Tools solution with Celcom's Next Generation Messaging infrastructure. This combined customer care and business intelligence solution will enable Celcom to gain a better insight in customer behaviour and service usage, allowing them to enhance service experience and increase revenues.
Dato' Zubir A Rasid, Chief Operating Officer, Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad said: "We are pleased to be working with LogicaCMG on this project, and trust LogicaCMG's proven track record with its messaging and payments solutions deployed by the world's top operators. With SMS being a key component of Celcom's wireless data revenue, and new services such as SMS voting increasing, it is imperative that we upgrade our messaging systems. LogicaCMG has provided us with a high performance and a cost effective solution designed to cater for future growth."
Boudewijn Pesch, managing director, LogicaCMG global telecoms in Asia said: "Our relationship with Celcom dates back to 1998 and we have worked very closely with the operator since to build scalable, high quality network architecture. Celcom is a key customer for LogicaCMG and is one of our largest worldwide reference sites for prepaid services with a total capacity to serve 8.4 million prepaid subscribers. From our work with 300 of the world's top operators in over 130 countries we have a strong background of experience and expertise to draw on here."

The move in recent years to cloud computing services and architectures has added significant pace to the application development and deployment environment. When enterprise IT can spin up large computing instances in just minutes, developers can also design and deploy in small time frames that were unimaginable a few years ago. The consequent move toward lean, agile, and fast development leads to the need for the development and operations sides to work very closely together. Thus, DevOps become...

In short, enterprises must take control of their data: The best way to do this is by using advanced encryption, centralized key management and...
