Plone and Drupal: Different Approaches, Different Results
paul.nowak wrote: Matt, thanks for the comments. I made an error on the version of Plone. It's 2.5 Plone running on Zope 2.9x. In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

"Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar Arrives in Silicon Valley
"Real-World Ajax was ... the first major Ajax Event in the World" says Backbase News Blog of February event

By: Open Source News
Apr. 24, 2006 09:15 AM

The first "Real-World AJAX" event, held in New York City, featured 15 speakers in 11 sessions, including many of the the world's most renowned AJAX experts, and more than 400 delegates attended while more than 15,000 SYS-CON.TV viewers tuned into the simulcast on March 13, 2006. Backbase news blog called it "a great day, and certainly the first major Ajax Event in the World!" Today, just ten weeks on, SYS-CON Events' timely "Real-World AJAX" comes to Silicon Valley, to San Jose at its very heart, and the Faculty lineup is if anything even more stellar than it was in NYC, including Google's Adam Bosworth and Paul Rademacher, Yahoo!'s Eric Miraglia, Laszlo's David Temkin and the father of the term "AJAX" himself, Jesse James Garrett.

“By now there isn't a software developer on earth who isn't aware of the collection of programming technologies known as AJAX,” said the Conference Chair of the "Real-World AJAX" Seminar Series, Jeremy Geelan, group publisher and editorial director of SYS-CON Media. “But you can't bank awareness. So, how in concrete terms can you take advantage in your own projects of this newly popular way of delivering online content to users without reloading an entire page? How soon can you be monetizing AJAX? This "Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar aims to answer these exact questions."

Led by the father of the term "AJAX" himself, the charismatic Jesse James Garrett of Adaptive Path, "Real-World AJAX" - Geelan said - has one overriding organizing principle:

"Its aim is to make sure that delegates fortunate enough to secure themselves a place before they're all sold out will leave the seminar with a sufficient grasp of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML to enable them to build their first AJAX application on their own when they get back to their office."

Security issues? commented on 24 Apr 2006

Billy Hoffman, a security researcher for SPI Dynamics in Atlanta, Georgia, had been pondering the risks of Ajax. He outlined his worst-case scenario at the American security conference Black Hat Federal in January. He called it the "1929 Virus", named for the stock market crash that preceded the Great Depression. Hoffman envisioned such a "cross-site script" making its way into a forum post, user profile or web-based stock ticker.

Strongly associated with the new Web 2.0 term, Ajax today is everbody's darling.

Inspired by the promise and the developer uptake of Ajax, I thought on doing a reality check on one of my favorite pets: container managed security, authentication in particular. There are a couple of issues that just don't work well with container managed security.

All the Ajax methods and libraries SUCK! I was under the impression that Xerox PARK invented GUI and both Apple and Microsoft perfected the technologies and created excellent reusable GUI Classes..

Why are you debating among many inferior methods when we can build reusable Ajax GUI Classes to build superior online applications?
Please read:

What else you need. What chance any other framework has and can offer? This is not a vapor where. The inventor has put 100% proof in the web site and challenged the world to prove him wrong. When common sense prevails all the other Ajax frameworks will be marginalized.

If you are a technology super star try to validate the technology and help accelerate and change the world for better.
