First Paid Healthcare Solutions Now Available in Puerto Rico

TSYS Merchant Solutions announced today that First Paid Healthcare Solutions, its suite of payment services that helps healthcare providers more efficiently collect patient payments, is now available in the Puerto Rican market. With the assistance of Puerto Rico-based Paytech Corporation, TSYS Merchant Solutions is actively marketing First Paid to doctors, clinics and other healthcare providers in the territory.

First Paid is a specialized web-based solution that helps cut costs, streamline the payment process, clearly outline patient expenses and eliminate paper.

First Paid also leverages a real-time calculator that determines what a patient owes for healthcare services at the time of treatment. The software confirms patients’ coverage and benefits, determines out-of-pocket status, calculates charges based on contracted rates with insurance providers, and produces an easy-to-read estimate of the patient’s financial responsibility for the visit. Patients can then pay for services in full with a credit card, debit card or check, or set up an installment payment plan on the spot. The suite of services integrates with TSYS Merchant Solutions’ processing platform to handle payment acquiring, routing and settlement.

“First Paid is the first product in Puerto Rico that allows healthcare providers to efficiently collect patients’ out-of-pocket expenses,” said Candido Alfonso, chief executive officer & president of Paytech. “In our market, the medical industry has focused on electronically billing insurance plans, but First Paid is solely focused on helping healthcare providers collect the expenses not covered by insurance.”

“Streamlining the collections process saves both time and money for healthcare providers,” said Diana Mehochko, president of TSYS Merchant Solutions. “And by making the entire process more efficient and easier for patients to understand, providers can maintain focus on providing quality healthcare instead of addressing patients’ payment concerns.”

TSYS Merchant Solutions is a long-time provider of processing services to healthcare providers. Today, more than 7,000 practices rely on TSYS Merchant Solutions to efficiently and economically accept card-based patient payments.

Over the years, a variety of methodologies have emerged in order to overcome the challenges related to project constraints. The successful use of each methodology seems highly context-dependent. However, communication seems to be the common denominator of the many challenges that project management methodologies intend to resolve. In this respect, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can be viewed as powerful tools for managing projects. Few research papers have focused on the way...
As the world moves from DevOps to NoOps, application deployment to the cloud ought to become a lot simpler. However, applications have been architected with a much tighter coupling than it needs to be which makes deployment in different environments and migration between them harder. The microservices architecture, which is the basis of many new age distributed systems such as OpenStack, Netflix and so on is at the heart of CloudFoundry – a complete developer-oriented Platform as a Service (PaaS...
In high-production environments where release cycles are measured in hours or minutes — not days or weeks — there's little room for mistakes and no room for confusion. Everyone has to understand what's happening, in real time, and have the means to do whatever is necessary to keep applications up and running optimally. DevOps is a high-stakes world, but done well, it delivers the agility and performance to significantly impact business competitiveness.
The OpenStack cloud operating system includes Trove, a database abstraction layer. Rather than applications connecting directly to a specific type of database, they connect to Trove, which in turn connects to one or more specific databases. One target database is Postgres Plus Cloud Database, which includes its own RESTful API. Trove was originally developed around MySQL, whose interfaces are significantly less complicated than those of the Postgres cloud database. In his session at 16th Cloud...
