Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. New Multifunction Epson Printer Includes Fax Capability Along With Epson's DURABrite(R) Ultra Pigment Ink for Printing Beautiful

By: PR Newswire
Jan. 10, 2006 09:39 PM

LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Epson Stylus CX5800F, which is one of the latest multifunction products geared to the consumer and SOHO market, is now shipping and will be available by the end of the month for under $150 (after $30 mail-in rebate). This product features all the capabilities customers are looking for in a multifunction printer, including fax capability, one-touch color restoration with Epson Easy Photo Fix(TM) technology, and Epson's DURABrite Ultra Inks for smudge, fade and water resistant high resolution printing on most types of paper.

The Epson Stylus CX5800F will maximize productivity as well as creativity with its high speed faxing in black and white and color, full featured scanning, PC free copying, as well as the ability to print photos directly from memory cards or PictBridge-enabled cameras.

"The Epson Stylus CX5800F is a remarkably versatile product that appeals to a variety of users. Customers can now fax as well as print, scan and copy. And customers who are printing with plain paper or photo paper, will get amazing quality and incredible durability with DURABrite Ultra pigment inks," said R. Craig Allen, product manager, consumer ink jets, Epson. "With Epson's DURABrite Ultra inks, customers can print with confidence knowing that their prints and documents will be smudge, fade and water resistant on most types of paper."

More about the Epson Stylus CX5800F

The Epson Stylus CX5800F delivers resolutions up to 5760 x 1440 dpi with ultra fine ink droplets to ensure incredible quality and sharp detail for everything from charts and spreadsheets to beautiful photos. This model also offers 48-bit, 1200 x 2400 dpi scanning for professional-looking results and it speeds through everyday printing up to 20 ppm for black text printing and up to 19ppm* in color.

Additionally, the Epson Stylus CX5800F contains convenient memory card slots. Photos can be printed directly from memory cards or PictBridge-enabled cameras quickly and easily. Customers can also print PC free by choosing the images they want to print from a proof sheet.

As with all of Epson's consumer printers, the Epson Stylus CX5800F offers BorderFree(R) printing and individual ink cartridges. Customers can produce borderless prints in popular sizes such as 4"x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", and letter. By using individual ink cartridges, customers have more convenience and control by only having to replace the color of ink that runs out.

The Epson Stylus CX5800F is Macintosh and Windows compatible and also offers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. This product is shipping to major computer, office and electronic superstores and can also be purchased through mail order, the Internet and Epson's own retail web site, http://www.epsonstore.com/ for an estimated retail price of $149 (after $30 mail-in rebate.)
