PLANO, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/16/06 -- The CEO of Energy & Engine Technology Corporation
(OTC BB: EENT) made a visit to Oregon on Thursday to meet with the state's
Governor, Ted Kulongoski, and other leaders to discuss the environmental
benefits of auxiliary power units (APUs) such as EENT's AXP 1000, which
decrease diesel fuel emissions by semi-trucks.
During a press conference at a truck stop on I-5 just south of Portland,
EENT's CEO, Will McAndrew, met with state leaders to show them a truck
equipped with his company's APU system, the AXP 1000. It was an
opportunity for state leaders to learn more about a technology which could
drastically cut diesel fuel emissions along the I-5 corridor.
Oregon has been a proponent in efforts to limit diesel fuel emissions by
semi-trucks along the I-5 corridor. Governor Ted Kulongoski has been an
active proponent of finding ways to cut emissions. The state is a member of
the West Coast Diesel Emissions Reductions Collaborative, a group that
wants to secure $100 million to promote voluntary efforts to reduce fuel
emissions.
"In 2003, I helped launch a partnership with the governors of Washington
and California aimed reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One of the first
regional goals we identified was to reduce truck idling up and down the I-5
corridor -- and today marks another forward step toward that goal,"
Governor Ted Kulongoski said. "The future looks bright for making air
cleaner in Oregon. And the future looks bright for the companies and
industries that bring clean-air technology to our state."
For EENT, the gathering was an opportunity to reach out to an audience
interested in learning more about its system. The AXP 1000 cuts down on
diesel emissions by eliminating the need for truck engines to idle
wastefully in order to power cab creature comforts and the HVAC climate
control system while the truck is stopped. Instead, a generator set that
uses significantly less fuel and emits significantly less pollution serves
the purpose. The unit not only cuts down on emissions but also saves
substantially on fuel costs, making the system economical as well as
energy-efficient.
"We are thrilled that Governor Kulongoski has taken such a strong stance on
clean air and the reduction of emissions on the I-5 corridor," said
McAndrew. "He is exemplifying Oregon's reputation as a leader on green
issues, and we are happy to play a part by marketing a product that has the
ability to markedly reduce emissions from the thousands of long haul trucks
traveling the corridor on a regular basis."
EENT is hoping to team with organizations in Oregon that have taken the
lead on emissions reductions technology like the Lane Regional Air
Pollution Authority (LRAPA). LRAPA is planning a series of showrooms
located along the I-5 corridor from California to Washington that will
feature emissions reduction technology for the trucking industry. LRAPA
also created the "Everyone Wins Program," which currently offers low cost
leasing to truck owners who want to install an auxiliary power unit on
their rigs.
