placed 24th in the 2006 Los Angeles Poker Classic held at the Commerce
Casino. The four-day event began on Thursday, February 16 with a $10,000
buy-in.
The actor outlasted a field of 693 players, with a prize pool of more than
$5 million, including Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Tilly and Phil
Laak. Woods will also play in the World Poker Tour Invitational on
Wednesday, February 22 at the Commerce Casino.
Commenting on the tournament, James Woods said, "Some of the greatest

The actor was most recently seen on the NBC program "E.R." on February 2,
2006. Woods has earned three Emmys, including two Outstanding Actor in a
Miniseries or Special Awards for his work in "Promise" and "My Name Is Bill
W." His two Oscar nominations from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences were for Best Actor for his astonishing performance in "Salvador"
and for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal in "Ghosts of Mississippi."
Woods started playing poker seriously a few years ago and has become a
formidable poker competitor.
