"Real-World AJAX" News
AJAX Rock Stars Gather in New York City To Teach "Real-World AJAX"
Jesse James Garrett, David H. Hansson, Scott Dietzen, Bill Scott and 7 Other AJAX "Rock Stars" Feature in One-Day NYC Event

By: RIA News Desk
Mar. 13, 2006 06:15 AM

By now there isn't a software developer on earth who isn't aware of the collection of programming technologies known as AJAX. But you can't bank awareness. Which is why developers from all over the world are converging today from 07:00AM in New York City's Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square  to live and breathe AJAX at the inaugural "Real-World AJAX" Seminar. The top-line speakers are: Jesse James Garrett, David Heinemeier Hansson, Scott Dietzen, Ross Dargahi, Bill Scott, Christophe Coenraets, Rob Gonda, Dave Crane, Jouk Pleiter, Kevin Hakman, Sahil Malik, and Dion Hinchcliffe.

SYS-CON's "Real-World AJAX" seminar series aims to answer several questions: how in concrete terms can developers take advantage in their own projects of this newly popular way of delivering online content to users without reloading an entire page? How soon can developers be monetizing AJAX?

Led by The Father of the term "AJAX" himself, the charismatic Jesse James Garrett of Adaptive Path, the "Real-World AJAX" Seminar today has one overriding organizing principle: its aim is to make sure that delegates fortunate enough to secure themselves a place will leave the seminar with a sufficient grasp of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML to enable them to build their first AJAX application on their own when they get back to their office.

As if the participation in this content-rich day of the man who first coined "AJAX" weren't enough, "Real-World AJAX" also offers insights from:

  • David Heinemeier Hansson, The Creator of Rails
  • Scott Dietzen, President & CTO of Zimbra, A Father of J2EE
  • Bill Scott, AJAX Evangelist of Yahoo!
  • Christophe Coenraets, AJAX-Flex Integration Guru, Adobe
  • Jouk Pleiter, Co-Founder & CEO, Backbase
  • Kevin Hakman, Co-Founder General Interface, TIBCO Software
  • Rob Gonda, Editor-in-Chief of AJAX Developer's Journal
  • Sahil Malik, telerik Tech Evangelist, Bestselling Book Author
  • Ross Dargahi, Co-Founder and VP of Engineering, Zimbra
  • Dave Crane, Bestselling AJAX book author on "AJAX Power Panel"
  • Dion Hinchcliffe, Well-known Web 2.0 Blogger on "AJAX Power Panel"

These sessions look hot; but the fog on Long Island is slowing me down and I may miss the first 30 mins, is anyone there gonna blog it for the rest of us?

Hate to sound like a luddite but...I've been viewing the web for 10 years, all I want from a website is information and I want it fast.

Web documents have no place being applications and javascript and flash have no place in documents. Why do people not understand this?

Laszlo just reinforced its commitment to the Open Ajax Community established last month by IBM, Oracle, &co - will there be any sessions on Open Ajax in particular?

I've previously implemented AJAX-like functionality using Microsoft's Remote Scripting roughly 5 years ago (around 2000-2001) and not too many programmers had a clue on what it was and how it worked; actually - at the risk of getting you Java and LAMP coders pissed off - Microsoft was also central to the birth of the XMLHttpRequest object ... but I digress...
