We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
GlobalOne,
a leader in Software as a Service (SaaS), social collaboration and cloud
computing professional services for the enterprise, announced today it
has secured an initial funding commitment in excess of $25 million from
Columbia Capital. The investment will be used to fuel a rapid expansion
of the company's capabilities and market coverage. The company also
announced the appointment of David Northington to the post of CEO.
Northington, an industry veteran with more than 25 years of professional
services leadership, most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of
Capgemini in North America.
Northington joins GlobalOne at a time when the IT industry is looking
for flexibility in how it implements and delivers services to the
enterprise. With a portfolio of industry-specific solutions, GlobalOne
helps clients design, build, and support solutions that leverage this
paradigm-changing delivery model.
Northington will be responsible for helping GlobalOne capitalize on
market opportunities in target verticals, embark on global expansion,
develop key partnerships and identify strategic acquisitions. “GlobalOne
is a vibrant organization with a track record of providing innovative
consulting services and solutions to enterprises,” said Northington.
“After collaborating with the management team and its investors, I am
excited to join GlobalOne. Our leadership team shares a common vision,
and we are well positioned to take advantage of this growth opportunity
in cloud computing.”
“Cloud computing changes the way IT is delivered – reducing risk,
aligning investments with results, and providing companies greater
flexibility to meet rapidly shifting business demands,” said Jason
Booma, principal, Columbia Capital. “Columbia is excited to work with
David again and believes that expanding GlobalOne’s vertically-focused
solutions will receive a positive reception in the market.”
GlobalOne executive management, Dennis Wall, John Orrock and Ken
Struthers are looking forward to the accelerated growth that the
Columbia Capital funding will enable. "We are excited to be entering the
next stage of our development alongside a respected capital partner and
proven executive leadership," said Wall. “David’s experience building
successful global services organizations enables our firm to take the
reputation and credibility we have established with our clients and
partners to new heights.”
Prior to Capgemini, Northington was Executive Vice President of Kanbay
International, which was acquired by Capgemini in 2007. Prior to Kanbay,
he served as COO of Adjoined Consulting which was acquired by Kanbay in
