RESTON, Va., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Satellite Ventures, LP (MSV) announced today that it has hired James Corry to lead MSV's system solutions for all federal, state, and local government needs, as well as the solutions for emergency responders and public safety. Mr. Corry joins MSV from Sprint Nextel, where he held the position of Director of Federal Wireless, focused on intelligence, law enforcement, first response, and DOD agencies of the Federal government. Mr. Corry previously served as CTIA's Director of Carrier Relations prior to his Sprint Nextel career.
"The hiring of Jim Corry reflects our strong commitment to ensure that MSV's next generation system offers the best solutions available for public safety and emergency services," said Alexander H. Good, Vice Chairman, CEO and President of MSV. "A key part of Jim's role will be to demonstrate to government and public safety officials how our cost-effective, redundant and interoperable hybrid system will provide connectivity to best serve this nation during times of natural and other disasters. In the case of an emergency where terrestrial networks are unavailable, like in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the system will instantly and seamlessly switch to the satellite network ensuring that emergency responders have continued and immediate access to reliable and interoperable communications."
"MSV and its integrated satellite-terrestrial network addresses the communications concerns raised for example in the 9/11 Commission Report," said James Corry. "MSV's vision of 'wireless everywhere' in the form factor and cost of current cellular technology, but with nationwide access to the emergency benefits of a ubiquitous satellite, meets a critical public service need. MSV's plans to take communications to the next generation have never been so critical as it is today in the wake of such emergencies as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, where cellular and domestic telecommunications infrastructures are incapacitated. The construction of MSV's integrated satellite-terrestrial network will resolve the problem. I am excited to lead this initiative for MSV."
