Spyware Doctor 3.8 Prescribes the Cure for Complex Online Threats

Major New Technology Advancements Create the Fastest and Most Effective Version of PC Tools' Award-Winning Spyware Doctor

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/24/06 -- PC Tools today announced the availability of Spyware Doctor 3.8, the most comprehensive and effective version to date of the award-winning anti-spyware solution.

The latest version introduces a number of new and innovative technologies, including the patent-pending Spider Scanning Technology, which has been implemented into Spyware Doctor's scanning engine. The technology significantly reduces scanning time, in some cases by 25 percent(1), while also detecting a higher number of threats.

Also included in version 3.8 is a new rootkit scanning ability, which provides an added layer of protection against rootkits and other complex threats. With Spyware Doctor's existing KD (kernel delete) and hidden process detection technologies, this latest version now offers users a complete and comprehensive solution to detect and remove complex threats, including rootkits.

Spyware Doctor 3.8 has also developed the KL (Kernel Level) Process Killer technology that locates and eliminates malicious processes operating at the Windows kernel level that can often escape detection. This means that Spyware Doctor now has the ability to kill troublesome processes that hide deep within the computer, at the kernel level, that many less sophisticated anti-spyware programs might miss.

Other features included in the latest version include:

-- Alternate Data Streams (ADS) detection and removal capabilities, which
detect dangerous threats that often hide themselves in attachments or
seemingly harmless files (such as Word or Excel files).
-- Improved user interface features, including a new system status area
where consumers can be alerted to which parts of Spyware Doctor require
attention, such as new smart updates available for download.

"Spyware and other malware threats such as rootkits are increasingly becoming more complex and difficult to detect and remove, so it's critical to have a trusted solution in place that is constantly on the forefront of technology," said Simon Clausen, CEO of PC Tools. "It's important to recognize the work of our team that has made Spyware Doctor the most innovative and effective solutions on the market today."

Spyware Doctor is available at major retail outlets including Circuit City, Staples, CompUSA and Fry's, and can also be downloaded online at www.pctools.com for purchase at $29.95 per computer install, including free support, software upgrades and live updates for a year.

In 2014, Amazon announced a new form of compute called Lambda. We didn't know it at the time, but this represented a fundamental shift in what we expect from cloud computing. Now, all of the major cloud computing vendors want to take part in this disruptive technology. In his session at 20th Cloud Expo, John Jelinek IV, a web developer at Linux Academy, will discuss why major players like AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM Bluemix, and Google Cloud Platform are all trying to sidestep VMs and containers...
If you are part of the cloud development community, you certainly know about “serverless computing,” almost a misnomer. Because it implies there are no servers which is untrue. However the servers are hidden from the developers. This model eliminates operational complexity and increases developer productivity. We came from monolithic computing to client-server to services to microservices to the serverless model. In other words, our systems have slowly “dissolved” from monolithic to function-...

Cloud is the motor for innovation and digital transformation. CIOs will run 25% of total application workloads in the cloud by the end of 2018, based on recent Morgan Stanley report. Having the right enterprise cloud strategy in place, often in a multi cloud environment, also helps companies become a more intelligent business. Companies that master this path have something in common: they create a culture of continuous innovation. In his presentation, Dilipkumar Khandelwal outlined the latest...
ShieldX's CEO and Founder, Ratinder Ahuja, believes that traditional security solutions are not designed to be effective in the cloud. The role of Data Loss Prevention must evolve in order to combat the challenges of changing infrastructure associated with modernized cloud environments. Ratinder will call out the notion that security processes and controls must be equally dynamic and able to adapt for the cloud. Utilizing four key factors of automation, enterprises can remediate issues and impro...

You will also learn how to provision mainframe syste...
Today, Kubernetes is the defacto standard if you want to run container workloads in a production environment. As we set out to build our next generation of products, and run them smoothly in the cloud, we needed to move to Kubernetes too! Join this talk to learn how to get started with Kubernetes and how we got started at JFrog building our new tools. After the session you will know: How we got to Kubernete...
While a hybrid cloud can ease that transition, designing and deploy that hybrid cloud still offers challenges for organizations concerned about lack of available cloud skillsets within their organization. Managed service providers offer a unique opportunity to fill those gaps and get organizations of all sizes on a hybrid cloud that meets their comfort level, while delivering enhanced benefits for cost, efficiency, agility, mobility, and elasticity.

Today's workforce is trading their cubicles and corporate desktops in favor of an any-location, any-device work style. And as digital natives make up more and more of the modern workforce, the appetite for user-friendly, cloud-based services grows. The center of work is shifting to the user and to the cloud. But managing a proliferation of SaaS, web, and mobile apps running on any number of clouds and devices is unwieldy and increases security risks. Steve Wilson, Citrix Vice President of Cloud,...
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks. We're in the midst of a wave of excitement around AI such as hasn't been seen for a few decades. But those previous periods of inflated expectations led to troughs of disappointment. This time is (mostly) different. Pattern recognition can equal or exceed the ability of human experts in some domains. It's devel...

Today we can collect lots and lots of performance data. We build beautiful dashboards and even have fancy query languages to access and transform the data. Still performance data is a secret language only a couple of people understand. The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like "How is my application doing" but no id...
The term "digital transformation" (DX) is being used by everyone for just about any company initiative that involves technology, the web, ecommerce, software, or even customer experience. While the term has certainly turned into a buzzword with a lot of hype, the transition to a more connected, digital world is real and comes with real challenges. In his opening keynote, Four Essentials To Become DX Hero Status Now, Jonathan Hoppe, Co-Founder and CTO of Total Uptime Technologies, shared that ...
