Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud.
We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
IDC in a Solomon-like split has given Wyse Technology dominance of the thin client market for Q4 and awarded up-and-coming Neoware, who inherited IBM's thin client business, the title of fast-growing player.
In the last quarter at any rate, Wyse owned more than half the US market (54.8%), three times its nearest competitor, and 41.7% of the worldwide market, where its nearest competitor (Neoware) has only 14.7%, it snorts.
Meanwhile, Neoware is supposed to be up 157% unit-wise year-over-year, while Wyse was up only 17.3%.
The US thin client market grew 21.7% year-over-year and projections are it will do the same this year.
By comparison, PC shipments were up an anorexic 1.4%.
Neoware says it's number two ahead of Wyse reseller, HP, in the US and Europe.
