Full Slate's Appointment Scheduling Software Launches 2-Way Sync With Google Calendar(TM), #1 Customer Requested Feature

New to Google Apps Marketplace(TM), Full Slate Now Integrates With Google Calendar(TM), Enabling Small Businesses to Synchronize Appointment Scheduling Via the Cloud

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/23/12 -- Full Slate (www.fullslate.com), an online appointment scheduling company, today announced the much anticipated release of a new feature: 2-way sync with Google Calendar™. Now that Full Slate integrates with Google Apps™, small businesses can coordinate appointment scheduling through the cloud and Google Calendar.

"Small businesses have embraced Google Calendar to keep everything connected," said Chris Korol, VP Products of Full Slate. "It's the foundation of cloud computing for SMBs. They might be using Outlook, iPad and Android all at the same time. Google Calendar is the common thread that keeps all those devices -- their computer, tablet and phone -- in sync, in real-time over the air. This is crucial for small businesses."

"Turning on 2-Way Sync with Google Calendar has really streamlined scheduling for my business. Now I don't have to worry about double-booking," said John Innocent of PC Evolution, an on-site computer repair service in Miami, Florida. "Someone back at the office can make an appointment in Outlook, it syncs to Google Calendar and I can see it on my Android phone in just a few seconds. Full Slate knows the spot is filled and automatically blocks that timeslot in our online scheduler so it's always up to date. Having Full Slate on our website and everything synced to Google lets us multi-task and save time."

Full Slate's appointment scheduling software is superior to others in Google Apps Marketplace™ because it is one of the few that can tout true, two-way sync with Google Calendar. What this means for small businesses is updates in real-time, no risk of double-booking, and the ability to make, change or cancel appointments in either Google Calendar or Full Slate's online scheduler and have the other stay up to date.

Most other scheduling apps only support one-way, read-only iCalendar subscriptions, similar to RSS feeds. Businesses can view appointments from a feed on a separate Google Calendar, but can't add or edit anything and have it reflected on their work schedule. Although subscribed calendars are refreshed periodically, updates can often be delayed six hours or more, which can lead to major scheduling conflicts. Full Slate, on the other hand, is integrated via Google Apps API™, so the sync is bi-directional and occurs in real-time, ensuring a business' schedule is always accurate no matter where it's accessed from.

In addition to real-time, two-way sync with Google Calendar, Full Slate now supports other calendar synchronization options including:

  • Overlaying events from a webcal (like iCal, Outlook or Yahoo Calendar) and automatically blocking out time on the business' schedule
  • Importing appointments from other calendar programs; this means businesses can switch to Full Slate without having to re-enter upcoming appointments by hand or lose existing clients' appointment history
  • Exporting full appointment history for analysis and reporting -- a critical feature in preparation for the upcoming tax season, as an example.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die.
