Beyond the Poster: Paramount Classics Strikes Deal With Technorati to Embrace Bloggers, Build Buzz Around New Movies
Eighteen-month program to begin with Paramount Classics' new film "An Inconvenient Truth," starring Al Gore

By: PR Newswire
May. 18, 2006 07:00 PM

SAN FRANCISCO, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Technorati today announced a new 18-month-long engagement with Paramount Classics to involve movie-loving bloggers directly with the independent and specialty film marketplace.

By directly engaging the growing population of vocal and independent film mavens, Paramount Classics moves movie marketing beyond the usual print and broadcast promotional vehicles, and into the live marketplace.

Paramount Classics will create a page on each of its film sites with up- to-the moment blog posts about the film, as well as the film's subject matter. The eighteen-month program will launch with "An Inconvenient Truth," the new movie about global warming, starring former Vice President Al Gore. Posts about global warming will be featured along with those about the film on the site http://www.climatecrisis.net/.

Additionally, Paramount will place a range of ads on Technorati.com and select Technorati media partners that promote blogger conversation for each of its films over the eighteen months.

"Paramount Classics is changing the way movies are marketed -- by joining the market's conversation and providing a central place for fans' and bloggers' voices to be found, thus deepening their relationship with this community," said Peter Hirshberg, Chairman and Chief Marketing Officer of Technorati.

Technorati will also provide Paramount Classics a module that will syndicate live content from the film's creators and comments about the film to interested blogs and media sites, further building involvement as well as buzz.

"We've been watching and listening to the blogosphere for a long time -- and especially with 'An Inconvenient Truth,'" said Andrew Lin Vice President, Interactive Marketing of Paramount Classics. "By giving bloggers a voice on our page, we're building a new and dynamic relationship around a common interest in the success of independent and specialty films."
