OKLAHOMA CITY, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless customers in Oklahoma now have access to more cell sites, improved call quality and better in-building, in-car and pedestrian coverage since the company has completed the integration of its Cingular Wireless and former AT&T Wireless networks in the state.

As a result of the integration, extensive drive tests by a leading wireless research company shows that Cingular customers in Oklahoma City and Tulsa now are using the "Most Reliable" wireless network. More importantly, new and existing customers can be assured they are receiving the best wireless service in the area.

When Cingular and AT&T Wireless merged in October 2004, customers received a better experience immediately because they had access to more cell sites in more places through "home-on-home" roaming. Now, with the completion of the network integration in Oklahoma, the two networks have become one continuous network, establishing calls through the closest cell site and passing them seamlessly from site to site. Customers not only have access to more cell sites, but also have all the cell sites in the Oklahoma area working for them.

Today, the company operates more than 700 cell sites in Oklahoma.

The integration is part of an almost $70 million investment by the nation's largest wireless carrier in its Oklahoma network in 2006. The investment also includes the addition of portable and permanent generators and more than 25 new cell sites. In 2005, Cingular invested more than $60 million in Oklahoma on network improvements. Specifically in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Cingular Wireless invested $38 million and $27 million respectively, installing 16 cell sites in Oklahoma City and 23 in Tulsa.

Nationwide, Cingular will invest more than $6 billion expanding and enhancing its network this year. When combined with its 2005 network spending, the two-year total approaches $13 billion to deliver a better wireless experience for customers.
