Accurate measurement is critical in all aspects of design, especially when incorporating LEDs. On September 18, 2012, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas Technical Specialist George Kelly will present at the upcoming DESIGN East 2012 conference at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. His talk, “Understanding Radiometry and Photometry for LEDs,” will take place at 3:15 p.m. EDT in room 207. DESIGN East builds on the rich foundation of training, education and products available at Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) and delivers five distinct learning summits over the course of four days. “Like in any engineering discipline, accurate data is crucial when designing products with LEDs,” said Kelly. “Consequently, the sciences of radiometry and photometry are very important tools that must be understood and applied correctly to get the most out of designs using LEDs.”
Using his expertise as the current manager of the Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) LightLab, Kelly’s talk discusses the importance of radiometric and photometric testing of LEDs. During the session, Kelly will focus on both theory and practice, giving attendees information that can be immediately applied to current designs. Kelly’s talk will also delve into what equipment is required to make these measurements and the limitations presented in said equipment. This session is applicable for intermediate designers with some experience in lighting measurement.
