Florida Senate Race Within One Point

New Gravis Marketing Poll Shows Nelson Smear Strategy Backfires

MIAMI, Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new poll released by Gravis Marketing and available on Real Clear Politics, shows the race for the U.S. Senate in Florida in a statistical tie, with a one point lead for embattled liberal Senator Bill Nelson, who has spent nearly a month and millions of dollars bombarding Republican Connie Mack with smear ads, most claims of which had already been deemed "false" or "mostly false," earlier this year by Politifact.

The new survey of 1288 likely Florida voters shows Mack with 42% and embattled, liberal incumbent Bill Nelson with 43%.

Mack spokesman and Deputy Campaign Manger David James stated:

"Liberal Bill Nelson's negative campaign of personal smears has backfired.  It's clear that Bill Nelson's mudslinging is not a winning formula for success. The Mack campaign is flying high and continues to attract undecided voters because Connie Mack is running a positive, issue-oriented campaign."

Gravis Marketing conducted their poll on September 2, 2012.
