Egenera, a pioneer in physical, virtual and cloud management and automation software, and NEC Corporation of America (NEC) today announced the availability of Egenera’s flagship software, PAN Manager®, on NEC’s SIGMABLADE System in the North American market. The announcement comes after the signing of the global intent-to-deliver agreement in October between Egenera and NEC Corporation, the leading volume server provider in the Japanese market. NEC began selling PAN Manager for the NEC SIGMABLADE System in Japan in May 2012. The corporation now is selling PAN Manager® for the NEC SIGMABLADE System worldwide.
PAN Manager simplifies the management of IT and provides automated provisioning, high availability and disaster recovery services for physical or virtual servers, providing customers a dramatic improvement in IT service levels and economics of managing and delivering IT services.
“NEC is pleased to bring PAN Manager to our SIGMABLADE platform, M-Series SAN storage and the overall Nblock architecture,” said Mike Mitsch, vice president of IT products, NEC Enterprise Technologies. “This solution with advanced failover functionality ensures our customers have a cost-effective, flexible and reliable solution for their mission critical operations.”
NEC’s SIGMABLADE allows for optimal server consolidation and provides a robust foundation for mission-critical enterprise infrastructure. Egenera’s PAN Manager on NEC SIGMABLADE will include a unique failover functionality called server staging, which enables a fast failover that cuts the time to recovery thus ensuring critical services can be rapidly restored.
“We are excited to be partnering with NEC and grow our relationship as we enable customers to leverage the NEC Nblock to build out a rock solid foundation for their clouds,” said Pete Manca, CEO of Egenera. “Together, we can offer our customers a flexible and integrated infrastructure management solution that brings together physical, virtual and cloud resources with the confidence customers require.”
“We strive for continued growth and always satisfying our clients with robust cloud services,” said Jack Pressman, Managing Director for Cyper Development Group International (CDGI). “Deploying Egenera’s PAN Manager and NEC’s SIGMABLADE can provide our customers with peace of mind in knowing their data is quickly accessible and secure. This in turn may help strengthen our business as a service provider.”
“With PAN Manager, our IT infrastructure is capable of responding quickly to changes in the business environment,” said Koichi Suzuki, senior executive managing director at Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd. (the research arm of Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd.). “We are excited to have Egenera’s PAN Manager on NEC SIGMABLADE to help strengthen our business continuity solution and form a more agile IT infrastructure.”
