BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Verizon Wireless is launching the "Dia de tus Suenos" or "Day of Your Dreams" contest to celebrate the history, contributions and culture of Hispanics across the nation. The call for entries is underway and Latinos age 18 and older may register online at www.verizoninsider.com/dreamday or at their local Verizon Wireless retail store.
Through October 15, Latinos can register once a day to win the Day of Your Dreams experience, which includes spending five hours with a nationally-recognized Hispanic celebrity or influencer such as telenovela star Gaby Espino, Indy Car driver Helio Castroneves or Chef Ingrid Hoffman. Winners also will receive $1,000 and a Verizon Wireless 4G LTE tablet to create a video diary documenting their Day of Your Dreams experience.
"Hispanic heritage plays a very significant role in our communities and it's important that we continue to promote the influence and success of Latinos across the country," said Jonathan LeCompte, president – Georgia/Alabama region, Verizon Wireless. "We also need to encourage and support the bold aspirations of young Latinos as they determine what their influence will be."
Verizon Wireless is a strong supporter of multi-cultural initiatives through high-profile national campaigns supporting Black History Month and Verizon's own "Celebrating Your Story" initiative. Celebrating Your Story profiled the success and influence of prominent African-Americans such as actor Laz Alonso and DJ Beverly Bond, who share their personal stories and encourage the community to do the same.
Finalists for the Day of Your Dreams experience will be announced October 30, with dream day experiences taking place in November.
