PLEASANT HILL, Calif., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sophia Rahman, MD, has recently joined the Diablo Valley Oncology/Hematology Medical Group in their Radiation Oncology Department.
As part of Diablo Valley Oncology's comprehensive cancer center, which opened in 2008, Rahman has experience with all types of cancer. She has a special interest in the treatment of breast cancer and the use of stereotactic radiosurgical techniques in the treatment of other cancers. "Sophia is going to help us provide excellent clinical care with cutting edge radiation oncology approaches," states Dr. Sachin Kamath, medical director of Diablo Valley Oncology's Radiation Department. "Our goal is to improve our ability to extend the quality and quantity of life for our patients."
"Advances in the world of radiation therapy have led to the development of newer procedures for the treatment of early stage breast , skin and prostate cancer," explains Dr. Rahman. "I am excited to be joining a group that is dedicated to providing the latest technologies to patients."
Rahman earned her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles - David Geffen School of Medicine. She came to Diablo Valley Oncology after completing her Internal Medicine Residency and Radiation Oncology Residency at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Medical Center. She also served as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at UCLA and as Chief Resident at Kaiser Permanente.
