WYLIE, Texas, Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Fire Resist Barritech NP, Fire Resist 705FR and Barritech VP have completed the ABAA Material Evaluation process and are now listed as materials that have completed the ABAA evaluation process on the association's website.  ABAA is considered the national voice of the air barrier industry. Fire Resist products are manufactured by Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing (CCW).

For the materials to be listed on the ABAA website, CCW completed the evaluation criteria process outlined by ABAA.  Product specific properties were tested to ensure that they meet the rigors encountered during their life and under the building's imposed loads.  The testing included ASTM E2178 the Standard Test Method for Air Permeance of Building Materials to define the amount of air that passed through the material, in addition to many other ASTM standards.

"ABAA not only tests the products, but it also looks at how well they work as part of an air barrier assembly and how easy they are to install in the real world," said Brian Carey, CCW Air and Vapor Product Manager. "The performance of an air barrier assembly is of far greater importance than the air permeance of the material. When materials and accessories are installed correctly, the benefits of the assembly have positive benefits for the entire life cycle of the building."

Fire Resist 705FR is a self adhered sheet air barrier, while Fire Resist Barritech NP and Barritech VP are liquid applied membranes. The products are notable also because they are the only air and vapor barriers that pass tough NFPA 285 requirements.
