Shelly Palmer Radio Report – September 11, 2012

Did you notice that quite a few websites were unavailable during the day on Monday? You weren’t alone.  GoDaddy, one of the largest web hosts and the largest domain registrar, was hacked, allegedly by a member of the hacker group Anonymous.  GoDaddy hosts millions of websites, and while it’s not clear if all of the sites it hosts were down, the number of unavailable sites was at least in the thousands. The source of the hack hasn’t been confirmed, though the Anonymous member taking credit Tweeted that he did it to test GoDaddy’s security.  Aside from the business GoDaddy will likely lose, there probably won’t be a huge amount of fallout from this attack.  But imagine a different large institution, one more essential to our daily lives was hacked… like a bank for instance. What kind of chaos could ensue? It’s an issue that’s only going to get more prevalent over time so we’d all better start paying attention
