Fitbug, the world’s premier online health and wellness coach, is excited to announce the launch of ‘Fitbug Air’, a revolutionary low-energy Bluetooth version of the original, industry-leading device (affectionately known as ‘the Bug’) that makes it easy and affordable for anyone to achieve their personal health goals, starting from just $29.99.
‘Fitbug Air’ offers seamless, wireless connectivity to the latest generation of mobile devices, from smartphones like the Apple iPhone 4s and the new iPhone 5, to the new iPad and iPod touch, and other tablets and desktops that are Bluetooth Smart Ready. Connectivity to other leading devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S III, will follow shortly.
Fitbug Air automatically syncs users’ activity achievements from anywhere at anytime, giving users the ability to track their progress and receive feedback and motivational support from Fitbug, when it’s needed most. Imagine getting a message from Fitbug when you get to work congratulating you on your walk to the office, or a reminder to motivate you to go out for a quick walk at lunch time, to ensure you stay on track to hit your daily Fitbug target.
Fitbug Air gives users the choice of three wireless modes:
(1) Push: Syncing on demand at the press of a button,
(2) Beacon: Fitbug Air automatically syncs at regular intervals throughout the day,
(3) Stream: Enable the Air to ‘talk’ to your smartphone in real time, allowing you to view your progress as you walk. Streaming enables a unique ‘Walking Zone’ feature that lets users see their walking speed and optimize their pace on-the-go, to help achieve the best health benefits.
These options provide unprecedented control and flexibility and ensure that Fitbug can help keep its users firmly on track to achieve their goals.
“With the launch of the Fitbug Air we want to make it easier for customers to lead a healthier life,” said Paul Landau, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fitbug. “The ‘Low Energy’ technology of the new Fitbug Air means months of continuous usage, eliminating the annoyance of regular recharging. The smartphone connectivity means no more cables or receivers and no more being tied to a PC. At a price that is typically around half that of other devices, Fitbug also offers the option to purchase with a flexible pay monthly option, but without being locked in to a contract.”
Fitbug offers the Air and a full 12 months of access to the premium personalized health and wellness coaching services for either an upfront plan of just $64.99, or for a lower up-front cost and total flexibility, users can purchase the Fitbug Air with the ‘Flexi Plan’. For only $29.99, plus only $3.99 per month, members will receive their Air plus access to Fitbug’s online coaching services (no contracts or tie-ins). All Fitbug services are included - there are no additional upgrade costs. With personalized weekly targets, meal plans, online communities and support, weekly newsletters, and even a free replacement battery and Fitbug screwdriver included, the Fitbug Air truly is the best value among online activity tracking and device programs. The new Fitbug Air comes in three colors — cool grey, hot pink, and plum purple.
Using a highly accurate 3-axis accelerometer, the Fitbug Air records every step taken, calorie burned, distance covered, and more. It uses that information to create personalized daily activity and healthy eating targets. The service adapts dynamically based on a user’s activity and nutrition progress, so that members can gradually build realistic changes into their lives. Fitbug also encourages users to hit “aerobic step” targets, which are activities that are more than 10 minutes in duration. The goal is to help users improve the quality of their daily steps, in addition to accruing more steps, over time, each day.
“Fitbug motivates people to take the small steps they need to improve their health and wellness.” said Landau. “Since 2005, we have successfully helped people across the globe improve their daily routines, simply by encouraging them to walk a little more and eat a little healthier. The improvement in the health of our Fitbug members has exceeded even our expectations, and we look forward to helping new members achieve great results using the groundbreaking Fitbug Air.”
The Fitbug Air is estimated to be available during October but can be preordered online now at www.fitbug.com. The company also has a variety of options for those consumers who don’t have a Bluetooth 4.0-enabled device, including the original industry leading USB devices.
