Toyota City, Japan, Sept 18, 2012 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota do Brasil Ltda. (TDB), TMC's Brazilian sales and manufacturing subsidiary, is to begin sales of the "Etios"*, a strategic vehicle for Brazil, on September 28. The Etios will be available in sedan and hatchback versions.
The starting price of the Etios has been set at 29,990 Brazilian reais, with an initial annual sales target of 70,000 units. Production of the vehicle commenced in mid-September at TDB's Sorocaba Plant in Sao Paolo, which was officially opened on August 9.
The Etios is the first Toyota vehicle to be launched in the Brazilian compact car market, which accounts for more than 60 percent of the total market. The vehicle is to play an important role in Toyota's future initiatives in Brazil.
TMC, based on its principle of contributing to local society through the manufacture of automobiles, aims to continue contributing to Brazil's automotive industry and to offer Brazilian consumers attractive products that meet their needs.
