WESTPORT, Conn., Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Adam Kaufman, PhD, General Manager of dLife Healthcare Solutions, will discuss digital innovations used to support diabetes self-management programs during a panel at Diabetes Innovation 2012 on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Hyatt Crystal City in Arlington, VA. The panel will discuss tailoring health applications to patients and the effects of social connections through technology on health status.
"Diabetes Innovation 2012 provides the opportunity for industry leaders to discuss the latest trends and best practices for the diabetes community," said Kaufman. "When patients play a more active role in diabetes management it leads to a better understanding of the disease and, ultimately, better health outcomes through education and adherence. There are resources available today that were not available several years ago, but they empower patients to take control of their own health care. For example, over 57 percent of dLife.com members use a cell phone or wireless device to track their blood glucose and manage their diabetes."
Dr. Kaufman will share the recent success of dLife's partnership with Humana and the MyDiabetesPath(SM) self-care program for its Medicare Advantage members during the panel discussion. By leveraging a multi-channel, multi-media intervention that uses dLife' s proprietary content, self-management tools, and online community, early results have indicated improvements in HEDIS scores and Medicare STAR ratings.
"We are pleased to have Dr. Kaufman share his extensive knowledge on diabetes population health and his experiences regarding the impact of dLife Healthcare Solutions on patients with diabetes," said Julie A Brown, Director of Professional Education at Joslin Diabetes Center, and Executive Director of Diabetes Innovation 2012. "He and the many other industry leaders attending the inaugural event bring expertise that all diabetes stakeholders can benefit from."
Diabetes Innovation is the place where leaders in diabetes prevention, treatment, payment, education, and research come together to forge new paths toward creative and innovative solutions for diabetes management. The event is hosted by the Joslin Diabetes Center, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
