DALLAS, Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas physician Dr. Gary Donovitz has been named keynote speaker for The 2012 American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Congress. The annual event will be held in Mexico City on Saturday, September 22. Donovitz, a Board Certified Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist based in Arlington, Texas is an authority on hormone balance for both men and women. In recent years, Dr. Donovitz has helped pioneer the development of bio-identical hormone pellets also known as pellet hormone therapy. Pellet therapy is the process of inserting small hormone pellets under the skin, just behind the hip.

Dr. Donovitz will be speaking on the impact of bio-identical hormone therapy on male and female patients. Commenting on the speech, Dr. Donovitz said, "Over the last several years, we've really been able to advance the quality of hormone therapy for both men and women. When administered properly, patients have been able to realize significant health benefits after having their hormones balanced. Because of its safety and convenience, pellet hormone therapy has met with outstanding results."
Pellet hormone therapy has been widely used in Europe and Australia since 1939. Over the past decade, pellet therapy has been used with more frequency in the U.S. as negative side effects of synthetic hormones became more understood. Dr. Donovitz commented, "Pellet therapy is the safe alternative to dangerous synthetic drugs. When administered properly, bio- identical hormone pellets are helping people regulate their hormones but without the dangerous side effects of synthetics. With hormones at the right level, a number of serious health issues can improve significantly."
Pellet therapy has been shown to help balance hormone levels in both men and women and offer relief to symptoms such as depression, irritability, mood swings, sleeping disorder, memory loss, Alzheimer's, erectile dysfunction, osteoporosis, high cholesterol and plaque formation in the heart.
The pellets used in bio-identical hormone therapy are derived from plants, specifically yams. They contain 100% pure Estradiol and Testosterone. Hormone pellet therapy has been shown to increase energy levels and lean muscle mass while decreasing body fat. Donovitz added, "We consistently see patients get into shape quicker and maintain their edge longer. And as people get in shape, disease has a more difficult time getting a stronghold in the body."
Researchers have also cited pellet therapy's ability to maintain target hormone levels for months at a time. Previously, patients would need to receive additional doses more frequently. Research has also shown that pellets are released into the body more efficiently as they adapt to the body and metabolism of the patient. According to Dr. Donovitz, "Pellet therapy is by far the safest, most convenient form of hormone replacement therapy available today."
