OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/21/12 -- Mr. Pierre Daigle, Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces, will welcome representatives of ombudsman institutions from more than 25 countries to Ottawa on Monday for a two-day conference to exchange best practices related to the protection of the welfare and human rights of armed forces personnel.
Media are invited to attend the formal opening ceremony of the conference on Monday, September 24, which will include a special keynote address and remarks from His Excellency Ambassador Theodor Winkler, Director of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
